Family Games Night

The family that plays together, stays together.  This is one of our motto's and we love to play as a family.  We try to eat together most nights, have a regular family movie night, but we also have no screen time after 6pm, which means that we often play games until bed time too.

Both the boys have grown up as real games lovers.  They are really competitive  not only with each other, but with me and MadDad too.  Neither of them are good losers, although we are working on trying to be a little more gracious in defeat!

Recently I picked up a bingo game at the charity shop and it has become one of the boys favorite games to play.  It is fairer as it is a real game of chance, so no advantage to the older child or parent.

I grew up by the seaside and when ever family visited they always headed to the arcades for a game of bingo.

We have had so much fun playing bingo over the last month or so and I have been trying to remember all the ball names, such as legs 11, however, the boys have their own names such as "Having a poo, yes it is number two" and "Uh oh its bedtime, number seven"

Bingo is actually a great game for children as it helps with number recognition and mathematics   When they get a line, they add up all the numbers and that gives them there score for that line.

Both my boys love numbers and find different ways to use the bingo game all the time.  They do it where you have to add up the last two numbers out of the little machine and pop your counter on that.  I love that they are so creative and do not have to stick to the instructions.

Comments

  1. Hahaha. We once stayed in a caravan that had a bingo game in a drawer. Because it rained almost the entire time (typical UK) we ended up playing it for hours - one of the best holidays I ever had :D

  2. I never thought of getting a game of bingo (not so huge in France) but that's a great idea actually :)

We have a tumble dryer, but it broke before christmas and we  couldn't afford to get it repaired, so I have been managing with an old fashioned wooden clothes rail and hanging bedding over the doors to dry, This last would of weeks however, I have been hanging the washing outside and it has been drying much quicker and with less creases, so I am going to take the plunge and instead of getting the dryer replaced I am going to give it away.
