We have a tumble dryer, but it broke before christmas and we couldn't afford to get it repaired, so I have been managing with an old fashioned wooden clothes rail and hanging bedding over the doors to dry,
This last would of weeks however, I have been hanging the washing outside and it has been drying much quicker and with less creases, so I am going to take the plunge and instead of getting the dryer replaced I am going to give it away.
Ecoforce heard me on twitter bemoaning the fact that I was chasing laundry round the garden as my pegs were not working and very kindly sent me some of their Ecoforce pegs to try and they have been fab.
So in conjunction with Ecoforce I have a year's supply of green cleaning and washing up wonder products worth £50 comprising the following:

I have never had a tumbledrier, never got the need for one, but the washing line is in the darkest bit if the garden and just snapped, so needs sorting.
ReplyDeleteIt all depends on the weather but if it isn't raining I do try to dry my washing ourside. I love the fresh smell when it has been outside.
ReplyDeleteI have never had a tumbledrier, never got the need for one, but the washing line is in the darkest bit if the garden and just snapped, so needs sorting.
ReplyDeleteI've been avoiding using the tumble drier for ages because of the cost of electricity, I can't remember where I saw it but I saw a break down of someone's electricity used in a day and the tumble drier doubled it, I used to use it loads, but I think we are still using as much electricity thanks to all the hairdryers/tongs/straighteners which are apparently obligatory for two 14-year-old girls!
ReplyDeleteI occasionally dry my washing outside but where we share washing lines it is sometimes hard to get a washing line. I prefer my washing drying outside.
ReplyDeleteI have one but try to just use it when I really need it like when its raining. Also with 6 of us its a pain having washing drying inside.
ReplyDeleteI dry as much as possible outside, what stops me is the almost relentless rain and drizzle in Manchester - and I often have no choice but to wash because as there are so many of us, a day off is a potential nightmare. I did get 3 loads dried outside on Saturday though!
ReplyDeleteI do dry my washing outside when the weather allows, as i don't really like using the dryer as it costs too much especially if you have to wash every day. Wish someone would invent an umbrella for the washing line like a parasol so i can use it more often.
ReplyDeleteI dry my washing outside whenever I can(weather permitting). I only use my tumble drier in emergencies and only in winter. In the winter months I hang the clothes on a rack in a spare bedroom and they are helped to dry quicker by the dehumidifier.
ReplyDeletei dry inside the house. my neighbour smoke and my cloth will get the smell.
ReplyDeleteI get as much washing out as I can but when the weather was vile I invested in a jml dri buddi as my tumble dryer packed in, anyway I am so pleased with the dri buddi, it is economical and makes the house smell lovely.
ReplyDeleteI am a foster care and the washing machine is permanently on! I love drying clothes outside - as well as being better for the environment it makes the clothes smell fresher - and the smell lasts longer too!
ReplyDeleteI ALWAYS dry my washing outside and I haven't had a tumble dryer for at least seven years!
ReplyDeleteDepends on the weather - virtually impossible in the depths of a Yorkshire winter
ReplyDeleteI love to dry my washing outside but the great british weather usually stops me
ReplyDeleteIf its raining I use my dryer, but I love drying it outside even if its very windy I just use more pegs.
ReplyDeleteOnly if it is raining do I not dry my washing outside
ReplyDeleteI try to dry outside as much as possible but I live in Wales and it rains a lot!
ReplyDeleteHele
Yes, when it's not chucking it down.
ReplyDeleteLove hanging the washing out and I get it out as much as I can
ReplyDeleteYes I dry my clothes outside
ReplyDeleteYes I always try to!
ReplyDelete@ashlallan
The only thing which stops me drying my washing outside is the rain. Nothing beats the smell of clothes dried in the fresh air.
ReplyDeleteIts weather dependant. If its nice its out
ReplyDeleteoutside now we have an outdoor space :)
ReplyDeleteI dry outside when it isnt raining, which these days doesnt seem to be very often! Then we drape things over the radiators and a clothes horse and only use the tumbler if we really really have to.
ReplyDeletethe one thing that stops me are bugs- hate them!
ReplyDeleteOutside in the summer and in the dryer during winter.
ReplyDeletealways outside even in winter and finish on the clothes horse inside if needed
ReplyDeleteOver doors, radiators, chairs anywhere where there is an edge! Just bought a place with a garden so it will be outside from now on.
ReplyDeleteI use a rack thing inside.
ReplyDeleteyes all the time I love the smell of dry washing what has been on the line so fresh
ReplyDeleteAny time I get to dry washing outside I consider it a huge victory! Sadly I've not done so in the last 6 months just because the weather where I live is so awful! There is rarely a day where it is consistently good enough!
ReplyDeleteonly when its sunny but most of the time it rains so u use a clothes horse x
ReplyDeleteI do in the spring/summer as I dont own a tumble dryer as it just a waste of money
ReplyDeleteI do when the weather allows and the washing smells lovely when you bring it in. Don't have a tumble drier.
ReplyDeleteYes I do.

ReplyDeleteI do dry it outside whenever possible. Or at least part dry it if the weather isn't brilliant and then just finish it off indoors.
ReplyDeleteAlways outside
ReplyDeleteI dry them inside on a rack as I don't have a garden or balcony.
ReplyDeleteWe dry our clothes outside if the weather is good or inside on an airer. We do use the tumble dryer for some things that need drying quickly but try not to use it all the time and don't put any of the childrens' clothes in there.
ReplyDeleteYes when its nice, if not it dried indoors
ReplyDeleteI love drying my washing outside if the weather is good.
ReplyDeleteAlways dry outside, if raining in the garage.
ReplyDeleteoutside when its not raining
ReplyDeletesometimes outside but I live in a flat and have to take it out through the security door and it shuts you out and have gone out without keys only to be locked outside and no way out.My kids thought it was funny ha ha
ReplyDeleteI dry my clothese outside as long as it isn't raining or too cold. Otherwise I use my ceiling clothes airer.
ReplyDeleteI always dry outside - free and fresh
ReplyDeleteI do when I can, today has dried 3 loads!
ReplyDeleteI live in flats so it is quite difficult but we do need to hang larger items outside and so we have a washing line which we share with our neighbours :)
ReplyDeleteThe weather stops me! When it's dry it goes out but only on a clothes horse so it doesn't dry fast because it gets no air round it. Need a washing line!
ReplyDeleteOutside - weather permitting
ReplyDeleteyes I dry clothes outside when possible
ReplyDeletesometimes , it depends if hubby has cut the grass !! im terrified of spiders and wont walk on the grass if its too long lol @chanson2010
ReplyDeleteI love drying it outside if the weather is nice - makes an amazing difference to how it smells :)
ReplyDeleteI love drying outside, but I can't rely on the weather and I'm not always here to bring it in if it rains...
ReplyDeleteoutside if weather permits, but tumble dryer if not. can't beat the fresh outdoor drying, everything seems fresher and cleaner,
ReplyDeleteI do!! I only use the tumble dryer if the weather is really bad and we need school uniforms washed quickly!!
ReplyDeleteDepends on the English Weather
ReplyDeleteYep out side for me conservertry if raining
ReplyDeleteYes I try to, it smells lovely!!
ReplyDeleteyes outside if it's dry/windy
ReplyDeleteNever owned a tumble dryer when I grew up and never really use one now (currently don't have one). Only time I have used one semi -regularly was when I lived in halls since my room was tiny and had no where to really leave the clothes to dry =/
ReplyDeleteI like them outside BUT only if my husband takes them off the line and shakes them cos i hate finding earwigs in my dry clothes, freaks me out.
ReplyDeletei try to but alot of the time its raining
ReplyDeleteIf the weathers right I prefer to dry outside
ReplyDeleteI dry outside when the weathers nice. I hate using the tumble dryer. Theres nothing better than the smell of washing that has been dried on the line.
ReplyDeleteWe dry outside when we can, it all depends on the weather!
ReplyDeleteI only use my tumble dryer in winter
ReplyDeleteAs much as possible, but we do live in Britain and the weather is not the best!

ReplyDeleteWe tend to dry our laundry outside, if the weather allows it. If it's got to be a quick dry, we do use the tumbledryer though x
ReplyDelete@caro_mad
don't have a tumble dryer but love to dry outside when it's possible, if not... it's radiators, clothes horse and over the cupboard doors in the bathroom!
ReplyDeleteI dry inside as work full time and don't trust the British weather!
ReplyDeleteI don't dry outside,I live by a main road so it would probably end up smelly and dirty from car fumes!
ReplyDeleteI like to hang my washing outside as much as I can as it always smells so fresh.
ReplyDeleteWe don't as we live in terraced housing with a tiny yard just big enough to store our bins in!
ReplyDeleteYes, when it stops raining.
ReplyDeleteThe cold or threat of rain usually stops me hanging on the line
ReplyDeleteI just don't have the garden space to hang up clothes outdoors
ReplyDeleteNo washing line at the mo so cant unless I pop the airer outside!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a garden
ReplyDeleteI don't as we have a dingy back yard that gets no sun at all, nothing dries out there
ReplyDeleteas soon as there's a bit of warmth that means its time to get the washing on the line! Try to get everything dry outside if I can
ReplyDeleteoutside when the weather is right
ReplyDeletei always try to hang the washing outside! only if it is raining then i wouldnt bother :)
ReplyDeleteI do if the weather's dry!
ReplyDeleteno i don't the bugs are always around

I used to dry my washing outside... Until the wind blew the whirlie away - now just have to set up the new one
ReplyDeleteI never use my tumble dryer but because of the unpredictable weather I rarely dry outside as I can't do a wash and then leave it all day while I'm at work so it's clothes horses in every room instead.
ReplyDeleteYes we dry outside whenever we can. When it's wet it's in the tumble dryer :)
ReplyDeleteI dry my washing on a clothes horse on the landing during the Winter months, but I try and dry it on the washing line during the summer months.
ReplyDeletei dont actually. i used to do it more but now got into a habit of the tumble dryer, so much quicker and easier but will have to think of doing it sometimes when the weather is nice.
ReplyDeleteanna m
During dry weather I put washing outside, if damp or raining I use tumble dryer
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, the rain normally stops me! I love seeing the washing on the line - only thing I don't like is having to remove the little spiders (and big ones!) that hijack a ride on the clothes into the house :(
ReplyDeletewhenever the weather is fine, I always dry my washing outside, I love the fresh smell
ReplyDeleteOutside drying is so much better!
ReplyDeleteI dry outside when the weather's nice.
ReplyDeletei love the summer so i can dry my clothes outside, unfortunately last year was rain rain rain. x
ReplyDeleteI also tend to dry on the line whenever possible but keep a tumble dryer for emergencies.
ReplyDeleteThese look like good pegs, my tumble dryer is essential in winter.
ReplyDeleteUnsecure drying area
ReplyDeleteYes, it's my favourite household chore.
ReplyDeleteyes, unless it's raining
ReplyDeletenormally use the tumble dryer - as i hate peg marks
ReplyDeleteI use the washing line as much as possible, If its raining I hang them on a clothes horse, by a radiator or in front of south facing window. I have a tumble dryer which I use in emergency. OH showed me the electric meter turning once when I used it and It shocked me so much, I hate to think of how much it would cost to dry all you washing that way.
ReplyDeleteI do, except when it's raining!
ReplyDeleteI use a tumble dryer

ReplyDeleteIf the weather is nice then its pegged outside, but if it is cold or wet then it goes on the line!
ReplyDeletein the dryer i mean!! Doh!!
Deletewhenever possible, try to use my tumble dryer as little as possible
ReplyDeleteI dry my washing outside as much as I can, otherwise it is hung on clothes horses all round the living room and kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI never hang small things on the line, takes too much time, but I like to put sheets etc out depending on the weather, of course!
ReplyDeleteDry the laundry outside most of the time ( weather dependent) no tumble dryer..otherwise dry them on the clothes horse

ReplyDeleteI do in the summer, but its so frustrating sometimes with the weather - it starts to get dry and then it rains again!!!
ReplyDeleteI dry my washing outside if the weather is suitable, but otherwise I use my tumble dryer
ReplyDeleteAs long as the weather is nice and sunny I always prefer to hang my washing out rather than use the energy of my tumble dryer
ReplyDeleteNo. I guess because live in the country and worried about it getting dirty from bird poop.
ReplyDeleteI use the dryer because the great british weather prevents me from doing it outside!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteWould love to win this fantastic prize! hollymarierose@live.co.uk
I love to dry my washing outside as i find it minimises creases and feels mroe aired.. the problem is lviing in this country is the horrible weather! That's what stops me a lot of the time
ReplyDeleteYes, I always dry my washing outside - hate using the tumble dryer as it shrinks things.
ReplyDeleteonly when i can
ReplyDeleteliving in a flat i can't :(
ReplyDeleteYes, if the weather is reasonably dry.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I can, weather permitting - Paul Witney
ReplyDeleteI might air something outside but drying things outside is just ugly. I do have a home with things drying over every door and chair back though!
ReplyDeleteYes we have a drier, but when we bought it was the most efficient in the UK (A) and was British made. I try to dry outside, but I wasn't keen on putting the towels out this morning when 65mph winds were forecast.
ReplyDeletealways outside - l wait for a dry day though!!
ReplyDeleteI use the tumble drier for the most part due to the unpredictable weather, and if going out for the day I cant guarantee it wont rain in the afternoon, but when the sun is out it get's hung out to dry naturally. I struggle with towels dried naturally though as I can never seem to get them fluffy if not dried in tumble drier.
ReplyDeleteWeather permitting, I dry all my washing outside. Otherwise, I dry them on the maiden indoors and over the radiators. The only time I use the tumble dryer in extreme emergencies when I need items really quickly which is very rare. This save me a fortune in electricity bills :)
ReplyDeleteI always dry the washing outside when the weather allows it! In winter we do use the tumble dryer a lot but always hang them up to dry where possible x
ReplyDeleteI use a clothes horse inside, as I live in an apartment block
ReplyDeletei do when it is sunny otherwise i use my tumble dryer.
ReplyDeleteI try to use my tumble dryer as little as possible and dry clothes on my washing line when the weather is nice enough.
ReplyDeleteI always try to avoid using my tumble dryer and dry outside as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteI'm in a top floor flat so I do it inside - but I dont mind as I love the smell of the washing powder!
ReplyDeleteI try to dry my washing outside but the rain often stops me forcing me to use a clothes horse and radiators :-(
ReplyDeletewhenever the weather is fine
ReplyDeleteI hang my washing on the line
whenever it rains
I hang it inside instead
Weather
ReplyDeleteI do dry my washing outside, I love having washing that smells fresh, but of course as with everyone else, it's tough to find a time where it's not raining!
ReplyDeleteI HAVE to dry my washing outside; i love the process of getting up early and beating my elderly neighbour out into the garden to hang it up and i love the smell when its dry! xxx
ReplyDeleteYes always if its good weather if not dry clothes on the radiators x
ReplyDeletedont have an outside - i live in a flat!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I dry my clothes outside but often on an airer inside-just because of the rain!
ReplyDeleteonly use dryer when weather is bad
ReplyDeleteI always try to dry my clothes outside but if it's raining I put them on the maiden in the kitchen
ReplyDeleteAs long as its not raining I dry my washing outside..
ReplyDeleteAlways except bedding and towels as I like them soft
ReplyDeleteSadly I currently don't and nothing is stopping me except perhaps laziness, however when we move house I intend on doing it a lot more often!
ReplyDeletedont dry outside as have no garden etc- live in flats
ReplyDeleteI try to dry my clothes outside, the weather usually stops me! If im in all day ill still hang it outside but bring it in if it rains so at least its had a little bit of outside drying time!
ReplyDeleteI do but I live in the centre of a city next to the most polluted street so it's not great. Have also had stuff nicked (2 pairs of smart trousers, one each of mine and OHs, the night before my neighbours court appearance... funny that!) and have on three occasions in the last year found that I have taken a bumble bee in with the washing, which caused a bit of a panic!
ReplyDeletethe weather usually stops me so i have a clothes airer up in the bath drying the clothes
ReplyDeletethe weather usually stops me so i have a clothes airer up in the bath drying the clothes
ReplyDeleteweather usually stops me so i have an airer up in the bath to dry clothes on

ReplyDeleteYes, if it's dry and I have time.
ReplyDeleteTh weather usually stops me!
ReplyDeleteyes, if it's a good drying day, like today.
ReplyDeleteIf I don't dry outside it is usually because it is raining/snowing or gale force gusts.
ReplyDeleteyes I do x
ReplyDeleteyes I do
ReplyDeleteNo as I stay in a flat with no garden.
ReplyDeleteI dry mine on the radiators, I did have a washing line but it disintegrated. haven't bothered getting a replacement yet.
ReplyDeletewe use the tumble dryer much more than we should really, its just more convenient and the clothes hardly need ironing when you tumble dry. lazy i know!!
ReplyDeleteI dry out side most of the time except winter than I use a clothes horse and place in my conservatory as it naturally gets warm to dry
ReplyDeleteI've just bought a tumble dryer which I plan to use only in emergencies. Up to now I've been pretty good!
ReplyDeleteAlways outside unless it rains, never dry on radiators as it shrinks your clothes.
ReplyDeleteI dry inside on airers only as we don't have a washing line and it rains so much!
ReplyDeleteI do dry my washing outside when the weather allows
ReplyDeleteI dont have a dryer, and live in a block of flats where the communal lines are not in the best of conditions. I use a clothes horse inside.
ReplyDeleteI do but the weather is so unpredictable
ReplyDeleteI do sometimes but we don't have a washing line as its still on the to do list. Also with two small children (1 and 3) the temptation to just throw it in the tumble dryer rather than battle through takes over!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that stops me is the weather!
ReplyDeleteI love drying my clothes outside! It's so quick and leaves a naturally clean smell! (weather permitting of course!)
ReplyDeleteAt the moment the weather has been awful for me to dry any washing outside. We don't have a tumble dryer either, so like you, i have been hanging bedding/blankets on the doors and been drying clothing on radiators! Our gas bill has just gone up an extra £18 too! I can't wait for the hot summer weather!
ReplyDeleteI much prefer to dry my washing outside and the minute its dry its on my heavyduty rotary line. With a family of 6 its essential to keep washing down. Things smell nice drying on the line :-) tweeted @karacariad
ReplyDeleteif its not raining then yes it go's out on the line but if its wet it gets stuck in the dryer, but i prefer it on the line.
ReplyDeleteyes when its sunny
ReplyDeleteWhenever the weathers good it goes straight outside. Tumble dryer broken so have to resort to radiator or clothes horse otherwise, and I hate washing lying around!
ReplyDelete
