Keeping your Information Safe on Line

How do we know that our sensitive information is safe online?  The truth is we don't.  We rely on companies to tell us when we need to change a password, to admit to a security leak.

What with the recent Heartbleed bug and then the issues with Ebay, I can tell you that I no longer have much faith in companies to protect my sensitive data any longer.

So for the last week I have been trialing the People's ID Bot. The People's ID Bot searches the internet for your sensitive information and let's you know if and when it finds it.

You enter your details in to it and it scans the internet looking for it and will email you if it finds any. It is a really simple concept, but really effective.

It is really simple to use and it has already found something that I would rather not be available to the public. Find out more on The Peoples Identity Project Facebook page.

The bot is free for the first 30 days and then is £3.99 a month and I have 10 free annual subscriptions (worth over £40) to give away.

  1. I haven't, but it's always been a concern!

  2. I do not think I have but it is a real concern these days. The nearest was when my bt email account was hacked twice and emails sent out in my name with dodgy attachments. Not sure if that actually counts as identity fraud.

  3. Yes, we've had our credit card details taken twice now. The first time there was £800 worth of purchases made, second time the card company stopped the card in time. We did get the purchases taken off but it was a long process. We believe details were taken from a tampered chip and pin machine. Very stressful.

Dumping the tumble dryer and Ecoforce giveaway

We have a tumble dryer, but it broke before christmas and we  couldn't afford to get it repaired, so I have been managing with an old fashioned wooden clothes rail and hanging bedding over the doors to dry, This last would of weeks however, I have been hanging the washing outside and it has been drying much quicker and with less creases, so I am going to take the plunge and instead of getting the dryer replaced I am going to give it away. Ecoforce heard me on twitter bemoaning the fact that I was chasing laundry round the garden as my pegs were not working and very kindly sent me some of their Ecoforce pegs to try and they have been fab. So in conjunction with Ecoforce I have a year's supply of green cleaning and washing up wonder products worth £50 comprising the following: EcoForce Peg Basket x 1 EcoForce Clothes Line x1 EcoForce Pegs x 2 packs Several of each of: EcoForce sponges, scourers, cloths, duster and bag grips Dishmatic Dishmatic Refills x
