Winter Manifesto

I am a firm believer in life being what you make of it and that the universe will provide, but I am also aware that the economy is not getting any better and there is nothing wrong it doing what I can.


So this year I am going to make a concerted effort to earn more and spend less.  As a family we have our first ever big holiday coming on November as we have booked to go to Florida with my brother and his family, which gives me a goal to look forward to. 

So I am going to start the year with the following seasonal financial goals:
  • Declutter - As I get older I am learning that I actually need less physical things to make me happy.  So the aim of the next three months is to start paring down what we have.
  • Use what I have.  I have lots of fabric etc, so I am going to make the most of it and use it before replenishing it or buying any more.
  • Use the library more.  Less buying of books, more borrowing them.
  • Plan.  I am going to get a new year book purely for financial planning (My old one is falling to bits).  I write down when everything is due.
  • Menu plan.  I will endeavor to use up all our left overs.

    I love your financial resolutions. I think i've recently come to the same conclusion about needing less stuff as I get older. This week I have set about de-cluttering our guest room which still had unopened boxes from when we moved house 2 years ago. I made enough space to actually put as guest bed on Monday night! but I still have half a room full of stuff to shift. I've resolved to sell it all even if its for pennies and then put every penny I get from it on the mortgage as even a penny now will make a big difference over the next 23 years in compound interest.

I have hard floors downstairs which I love.  They are much more practical than carpet with 2 mucky boys and a dog. Dumping the tumble dryer and Ecoforce giveaway

We have a tumble dryer, but it broke before christmas and we  couldn't afford to get it repaired, so I have been managing with an old fashioned wooden clothes rail and hanging bedding over the doors to dry, This last would of weeks however, I have been hanging the washing outside and it has been drying much quicker and with less creases, so I am going to take the plunge and instead of getting the dryer replaced I am going to give it away.
