No cost simple pleasures or back to basics parenting #3

This weeks simple pleasure is the joy I get from hearing my children laugh, giggle and shout when playing outside after school.  I love the lighter nights, so that they can play outdoors with their friends.

I am a huge fan of free range parenting and encourage my boys who are eight and nearly seven to get out and play.  Make their own fun and games within the boundaries I set.

    Awww great fun. Mine are still a little young for free play outside, but they are getting much better at making up games inside.

    So nice to see the sunny evenings, it's good to get them out and burn off some of that energy. We have some lovely, well behaved children who play outside on our estate, Lucas loves to watch them playing.

      I think having other children to play with makes all the difference. We have some lovely ones too

    With you all the way. Kids need to develop imagination and self sufficiency and outdoor free time play is one of the simplest and cheapest ways to do this. Not to mention giving them some much needed down time and fresh air after being cooped up in a classroom. Thanks for sharing on Country Kids.

      I am a great believer in letting them have counties and also to letting them learn to play outside with friends too.

    Kids so often thrive when they're outside, much more so than when they're stuck indoors with technology. It's all well and good people telling parents that our kids should have this gadget and that gadget, getting 2 and 3 year olds used to iPads and tablets etc, but it's playing outside in the fresh air that really stimulates the brain.

      I agree CJ, they also need to be allowed to have freedom and to learn how to explore and cooperate with other children too

    It's great to see them outdoors! I hope I won't have to set too many boundaries for my wee man as he gets older. He loves to run about and explore but I like to keep him in line of sight.

Dumping the tumble dryer and Ecoforce giveaway

We have a tumble dryer, but it broke before christmas and we  couldn't afford to get it repaired, so I have been managing with an old fashioned wooden clothes rail and hanging bedding over the doors to dry, This last would of weeks however, I have been hanging the washing outside and it has been drying much quicker and with less creases, so I am going to take the plunge and instead of getting the dryer replaced I am going to give it away.
