Getting more from your batteries and a giveaway


New research has been revealed that one third of alkaline batteries thrown away may still have up to 67% of usable power left.

Power hungry devices such as digital cameras often have a default power off switch, but this doesn't mean the battery is dead. Batteries that have been assumed ‘dead’ can be given a second life by trying them in your low drain household devices such as remote controls, clocks and torches.

In order to prove this Duracell together with Energy Saving Trust sent us a Halloween party pack with torches in for us to use batteries that we previously had thought were dead in and you know what they were right!

We put batteries that had previously been in Maxi's camera, which we thought were empty and they werent,  they are still powering the touch.

That’s not all – They have also provided an extra kit for you to give away to help you get into the Halloween spirit!

 So all you need to do to be in with a chance to get your hands on this is to leave me a comment telling me if you let your children trick or treat.

    I do, but only on our street, and it's prearranged with the parents involved. We leave a latern/pumpkin outside to let each other know we are participation. My LO's love the dressing up more than the sweets, so it's really good fun! X The Ana Mum Diary

    We do but we only stay local and go to houses with a pumpkin outside. Most of the houses in our street take part and its good fun even the adults dress up.

    i dont let my children trick or treat, but i do have a halloween party where they dress up and are allowed to invite their friends, dont like encouring my children to know on strangers doors, not in the world we live in now

    My eldest boy does, he is quarter American and goes to the American Air Base with his dad, he gets loads of stuff!!

    I go with my 3 but only to houses with a pumpkin outside they love it and as long as I'm with them I know they are safe and Havin fun, early out and early back lol

    I don't have kids yet but when I was younger, my parents would always let me go to the houses in the cul-de-sac where our neighbours would be expecting us. I'd probably do the same with my children as long as we have lovely neighbours who would enjoy taking part in the Halloween fun and just because we don't have kids yet doesn't mean we won't be enjoying Halloween... x

    My children are both a little too young to be trick or treating but I think I will let them when they are bigger, to people we know and family.

    Last year was the first year that I've done it with mine, in 17 years of having children! In all fairness, we stayed very local to our house and only visited neighbours that we knew and had the house decorated. The kids LOVED it. Seeing Hugo running down the street with a cape flapping behind him and his little friend in a skeleton outfit next to him reminded me of Delboy & Rodney running as Batman & Robin, an image I'll never forget or not laugh at when I think of it. x

    I do let my two trick or treat but only with me and only in our street to the odd people who had their houses decorated.

    Holly is only 14 months, so not yet no. I'm not sure if I will, I never went as a kid. But our church do a Trunk or Treat, where every family decorates the trunk of their car and the kids go round Trunk or Treating! Amazing!

    I didn't used to and as a child I wasn't allowed either but we now live on a new estate full of children and everyone really gets into. People even bus there kids over! So this year we will for the first time

Dumping the tumble dryer and Ecoforce giveaway

Bissell Vac and Steam Machine Review and Giveaway

I have hard floors downstairs which I love.  They are much more practical than carpet with 2 mucky boys and a dog.
