Do you have a birthday box?

My boys are seven and eight and throughout the year they get invites to a lot of parties.  This means that I have to find presents for these children.  A birthday box is not a new thing, in fact my mum had one!

A tend to keep an eye out during the year and January is a great time to stock up with items from the sale or from ebay.  I even do not have issues giving away second hand toys (as I wrote about here for the Making Money Go Further Blog).

Some recent additions have been from Paperchase where we bought some Robot jigsaw erasers and also some wooden stamp sets.  Children of all ages adore stationery.

The book people often have some fantastic book sets that you can split into smaller gifts.  We love these LEGO Minifigure sticker books which work out at less than a £1 each.

Small LEGO kits are also a fab present and gratefully received. so we always keep an eye on LEGO Deals Facebook page for bargains throughout the year.

LEGO Legends of Chima 70000: Razcal's Glider is currently less than £8 on Amazon so perfect Birthday gift price.

We also love these Hand tattoos and they are great to split up and add to other gifts.

  1. I have a gift box, and great intentions to stock up with gifts suitable for all types, especially children of a similar age to mine, but somehow I still end up picking something up from the supermarket a couple of days before the party!

  3. I love the idea of having a gift box! Might have to give it a try - collect things throughout the year so something is always available and handy for the kids instead of madly dashing to grab something from nearby. Thanks for the idea!! Just have to keep it hidden from them ;)

Bissell Vac and Steam Machine Review and Giveaway

I have hard floors downstairs which I love.  They are much more practical than carpet with 2 mucky boys and a dog. Over the past 8 years I have tried all sorts of ways to keep them clean and I think I have finally found the product that does that for me. It is the  Bissell Vac and Steam Machine .  This amazing suel action machine vacuums and steam cleans either independently or at the same time.  It means that I have done away with my vacuum and steam cleaner downstairs (which I gave to my brother in law). What I like: You can either vacuum or steam clean or do both It is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre The handle is adjustable great for a home with people of different heights and for getting the kids involved. You need no chemicals The pads are washable and reusable It comes with a two year guarantee It warms up fast (within 30 seconds) so no long wait to start cleaning It costs under £100 It is space saving.  No need for a separate vacuum, steam cleaner or mop.
