A New Years Revelation..............

In the interest of honesty and by virtue of the fact that I am a long time blogger and therefore, over sharer.  I feel it only fair that I own up to something I have been hiding for a long time...................

Hello, my name is Jen and I am a hoarder and over buyer of "bargains".

Phew, shall I just let that actually sink in for a while.  Yes I write a thrifty blog, when in fact I have been economical in admitting the fact that I have an issue myself.



So what am I going to do about it.

I have asked a friend to help me with the hoarding issue.  January is going to be a month of clearing the clutter and selling, donating or throwing away.  I know this isnt going to be easy.  I have handbags that are 20 odd years old and have never thrown away a pair of shoes in my adult life (yes that means I have a LOT of shoes).  We are going to go one room at a time, starting with my bedroom.

January is also going to be a no spend month.  I am not going to spend money on anything that is not a necessity (repairs and breakdowns excluded).

So there it is my new years revelation.

    Can we start a support group ?

    I have actually been sorting, decluttering and throwing away so I'm getting better, but it is still a habit that's difficult to break.

    Me too, a hoarder. That's one of my resolutions as well for this year, to declutter. I have recently put my fave black jersey dress with a diamante collar that I wore 14 years ago to the new year's eve party. I knew I could never squeeze in it again, after two kids and a zillion cakes, but kept it as a memento. It still looked splendid, and I almost wept giving it away. But it's time to be ruthless.     I have the same problem so I know what you mean. I need to declutter too, have started but need to do more!

      I seem to start, but never get to the end and always do the easy stuff leaving all the hard stuff still here!

    Good luck! I have the opposite problem and if I've not used something for a week or so I throw it away. Therefore I have the smallest wardrobe known to mankind. It is going to change this year!

      I wish I could live a simpler life. It is what I dream off. I dont want the contents of the airing cupboard to fall out everytime I open it!

    Good luck. I think I'm reasonably good at getting rid of things that we don't need... hubby on the other hand... he seems to have a thing for "owning things".

Dumping the tumble dryer and Ecoforce giveaway

We have a tumble dryer, but it broke before christmas and we  couldn't afford to get it repaired, so I have been managing with an old fashioned wooden clothes rail and hanging bedding over the doors to dry, This last would of weeks however, I have been hanging the washing outside and it has been drying much quicker and with less creases, so I am going to take the plunge and instead of getting the dryer replaced I am going to give it away.
